Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

As the Prime Minister of Pakistan, I am committed to strengthening our nation's export capabilities. URAAN Pakistan is a major program designed to promote and support important projects and changes as part of the 5Es National Economic Transformation Plan. Its core focus is to enhance the export sector as a driver of economic growth, foreign exchange generation, and improved global trade positioning. Our objective is to significantly increase exports, an essential milestone for our economic progress. We are particularly focused on scaling up industrial sectors (textile, surgical, pharmaceutical, etc), exports, recognizing the immense potential of these sectors.

The NCC will function as a central compliance hub at the national level. This pivotal initiative is expected to raise export standards and modernize our trade practices. Through the NCC, we aim to address industry challenges, strengthen regulatory compliance through progressive export legislation, and contribute to sustainable economic growth and deeper integration into the global marketplace.

I am confident that the NCC will serve as a central guide for international compliance requirements, providing a user-friendly online platform for businesses to navigate complex global regulations, particularly for agricultural and industrial sectors, with both public and private sector stakeholders in understanding and meeting global regulatory standards, enhancing Pakistan's trade competitiveness on the international stage.

Mr. Jam Kamal Khan

Federal Minister for Commerce

Mr. Jam Kamal Khan

As the Commerce Minister of Pakistan, I am committed to promoting sustainable and inclusive development through the establishment of the National Compliance Centre (NCC). This initiative aims to assist Pakistani businesses in understanding global compliance requirements, enabling them to compete more effectively in global markets. The NCC is designed to enhance trade compliance and social responsibility. In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and recognizing the importance of social and environmental concerns, we are aligning our initiatives with (SDGs) and making them more accessible to businesses.

The NCC will provide comprehensive guidance on international compliance requirements, providing a digital platform for compliance confirmation, traceability, and valuable resources. The Centre will support all the service sectors, helping them to navigate complex regulatory landscapes, particularly in areas where Pakistan has a competitive advantage in regulatory standards. It is important for businesses to thoroughly understand international market compliance requirements, and we are confident that the NCC will work closely with international stakeholders to foster sustainable trade relationships.

Let us continue working towards sustainability, inclusive and ethical trade. Your engagement remains our greatest asset in this journey.

Mr. Muhammad Ashraf

Executive Director General

Being an Export Development Funded (EDF) project, the National Compliance Centre (NCC) under Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan has been assigned a broader framework in which, the NCC staff has to conduct gap analysis regarding compliance requirements (focusing on thematic areas like Productivity & Quality, Environment, Labor, OSH, etc.,) while exporting of manufactured products in export sectors. Currently, the NCC is working on the development of standards/compliance (sector-wise and region-wise) and intends to prepare a central repository.

Based on the standardization of compliance requirements, the NCC will conduct training/awareness sessions regarding standards/compliances for capacity building of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of export-oriented industrial sectors through seminars, workshops (in person), as well as webinars. Alongside, National Quality Infrastructure (NQI) for the development/upgradation of CFC and laboratories is also a leading objective of the NCC framework. NCC is actively engaging with key sectors, including industry, academia, and INGOs, to contribute to the shaping of a culture of compliance that drives sustainable development and good governance.
